Position Summary
The Senior Journeyman Equipment Operator is a high-level field operator responsible for performing advanced trenching, excavation, and heavy civil construction operations with minimal supervision. This role supports Superintendents and Foremen while maintaining production, grade accuracy, crew coordination, and overall field execution.

Responsibilities
Utility Trenching Operations
• Mainline utility trenching
• Storm system trenching
• Service installations
• Maintain trench depth & alignment
• Utility tie-ins
• Maintain proper pipe grade & slope
• Structure excavation
• Smooth trench bottoms for bedding
• Water line excavation
• Coordinate with pipe crews
• Sewer line excavation
• Support backfill operations
Heavy Civil & Earthwork Support
• Site stripping
• Cut/fill balancing
• Excavation operations
• Material movement coordination
• Rough grading
• Haul coordination
• Subgrade preparation
• Dirt work support operations
• Pad construction
• Transition between trenching & grading
• Slope grading
• Support production operations
Grade Control & Production
• Read civil plans & profiles
• Support rough & finish grading
• Read cut sheets & grade stakes
• Minimize over-excavation
• Maintain utility slope tolerance
• Reduce rework & delays
• Maintain bedding elevations
• Maintain production targets
• Maintain pipe installation grade
• Ensure quality & safety standards
